Nomura Dairy and Probi introduce probiotic-enhanced carrot juice to Japan

Global probiotic leader Probi® has partnered with Nomura Dairy Products to bring its flagship strain to Japan in a groundbreaking new product: the country’s first fermented drink fortified with LP299V®. This innovative beverage combines the natural benefits of carrot juice with the proven digestive support of LP299V—marking a major milestone in Probi’s growth in Asia and delivering science-backed gut health to Japanese consumers.

Nomura Dairy Products Co., Ltd, a manufacturer specializing in intestinal health and an innovator in functional beverage development, has officially launched Japan’s first-ever fermented drink fortified with Probi’s Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 299v (LP299V) under its brand “My Flora”. This new product is a result of a strategic partnership with Probi, a global leader in scientifically documented probiotics.

Designed for health-conscious consumers seeking digestive support, this launch combines the natural nutritional value of carrot juice with the clinically proven benefits of LP299V, to provide comprehensive support for digestive health.

“Consumers in Japan are increasingly looking for innovative yet natural ways to support their digestive health”, says Amy Lau, Marketing Manager, APAC Probi. “This launch not only brings a proven probiotic strain into a familiar and nutritious format—it also demonstrates our commitment to expanding gut health solutions tailored to local market preferences across Asia.”

The partnership between Probi and Nomura Dairy is rooted in a shared dedication to intestinal health and innovation in functional beverages. Together, they've developed a product that marks the beginning of a new chapter in probiotic drinks for the Japanese market.

“Nomura Dairy has been developing its business with a passion to eliminate gut problems from Japan and around the world, focusing on plant-based lactic acid bacteria that reach the intestines alive. We will continue to evolve and focus on effectiveness as a trusted partner in intestinal health”, says Chiaki Yamakawa, General Manager of Marketing, Nomura Dairy Products.

Probi’s LP299V is the most clinically documented L. plantarum strain in the world. It has been documented within several areas, all related to health benefits in the gut, from inflammation to metabolic health. Backed by over three decades of research, it is described in more than 200 scientific publications out of which more than 80 are human clinical studies. Intake of LP299V has primarily been shown to support gastrointestinal health, such as reducing flatulence and abdominal pain in subjects with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

The LP299V strain was isolated from healthy intestinal mucosa and multiple studies have shown that LP299V survives the harsh conditions in the human GI tract. Its excellent survivability and proven stability in various food production applications make it an ideal choice for functional beverages such as this new carrot juice product.

This launch marks a key milestone for Probi’s entry into Japan’s functional beverage market—delivering a clinically supported, convenient solution for daily digestive health.
